Security Safes are a simple, yet highly sought after product by customers.
There are a variety of reasons for needing a secure safe in a vehicle. For a person that is genuinely licensed to carry a firearm, it is still a federal crime to enter a Post Office while carrying. People with businesses that need to transport cash, yet smaller amounts than needing an armored vehicle. Lawyers and other professionals with sensitive documents also find secure safes useful. Travelers also see it wiser to lock Passports, documents and valuables in the vehicle rather than carrying them. The uses are many.
Various companies produce custom fitting safes, mostly for larger SUV's that fit in the armrest as shown here. Typical cost $400 installed.
My most popular is this Smith & Wesson combination safe that is user set to a 5-Digit unlock code. Please don’t let the brand make you think it is only for pistols. I think most customers have had any number of other uses for it. It is through bolted with underside carriage bolts to the body of the vehicle. Usually $400 installed.
None of these are meant to compare to a fire/burglar home safe, but do accomplish the slowing down of slippery fingers.
